Ravenshaw Junior College is affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha to offer courses in Science,  Arts and Commerce.  The following is the list of  subjects and number of seats available in the college in different streams.

Compulsory subjects :  (Common for all streams)

(iii)  Environmental Education (EE)

Envionmental Education will be assessed at the college level for 100 marks (70 marks for theory and 30 marks for project work) at the end of 1st year of +2 course and the grades. (A, B, C or D inorder of merit) are to be awarded by the college and the same shall be recorded in the pass certificate given by the Council subsequently.

The grade secured in the Environmental Education (EE) will not affect the result of the candidate.

Elective Subjects

Subjects in Arts stream (No. of seats 512) :

A student shall have to offer any  four elective subjects each carrying a maximum of 200 marks  (100 marks for 1st Year and 100 marks for 2nd year.)

Section – A

  1. Education / Psychology and any three of the following subjects–

(i)  Economics  (ii)  History  (iii)  Mathematics  (iv) Logic (v) Pol. Science   (vi) Sociology  (vii)  Language Optional  (Odia / Hindi/Sanskrit ).

Section – B

  1. Geography / I .T. / Statistics and any three of the following subjects. –

(i)  Economics   (ii)  History   (iii) Mathematics  (iv) Logic  (v) Pol. Science   (vi)  Sociology  (vii)  Language  Optional    (Odia / Hindi / Sanskrit)


  • Geography and Logic cannot be taken together.
  • Statistics and Sociology cannot be taken together.

Section – C & D

  1. Any four of the following subjects

(i)  Economics  (ii)  History  (iii) Mathematics  (v) Logic             (v) Pol. Science   (vi)  Language Optional (Odia/Hn./Sans.)

Above subjects shall be given on the basis of merit.

Subjects  in Science Stream (No. of Seats 384)

Each elective subject carrying a maximum of 200 marks (100 marks for 1st year and 100 marks for 2nd year)

3 Mathematics / Biology (can be opted for both 3rd and 4th Elective subject )
4 Electronics / Statistics / Geography / Information Technology  (can be opted as 4th elective subject only)
The Fourth Elective subject Information Tehnology for the Arts and Science Streams is a self financing scheme. The students desirous of taking IT have to deposit a sum of Rs. 3,000/- (Three thousand) only as the course fees for two years at the time of admission.

Subjects in Commerce Stream (No. of Seat 256)

A student can take four Elective subjects. Each elective subject carrying a maximum of 200 marks (100 marks for 1st year and 100 marks for 2nd year)

1. Accountancy (ACT)
2. Business Studies & Management (BSM)
3. Business Mathematics & Statistics (BMS)
4. First Year – Banking & Insurance and Second year – Cost Accounting (CA)
